MISMONG si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., ang humahadlang para maparusahan ang grupo ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at makamit ng pamilya ng libu-libong biktima ng madugong war on drugs ang hustisya.

Reaksyon ito ni Bayan Muna chairman Neri Colmenares matapos isara nang tuluyan ni Marcos ang pintuan sa International Criminal Court (ICC) kasunod ng pagbasura ng nasabing korte sa kanilang apela kaugnay ng imbestigasyon sa drug war ni Duterte.

“By refusing to cooperate with the ICC, the government is sending a message that it is not committed to upholding human rights and seeking justice for the victims,” pahayag ni Colmenares.

“This move undermines the credibility of the Philippines as a responsible member of the international community,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

Ayon sa dating mambabatas, mabibigyan lang ng katarungan ang pamilya ng mga biktima ng war on drugs kung ICC ang magsagawa ng imbestigasyon dahil hanggang ngayon ay hindi iniimbestigahan ng mga otoridad si Duterte at walang naisasampang kaso.

Bukod kay Duterte, kasama sa akusado sa ICC ang anak nitong si Vice President Sara Duterte, Sens. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa at Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.

“The ICC investigation into the drug war is a crucial step towards achieving justice for the victims and holding those responsible accountable,” ayon pa kay Colmenares.

Sinusuwag din aniya ni Marcos ang Korte Suprema sa kanilang ruling, dalawang taon na ang nakararaan na may obligasyon ang Pilipinas sa ICC.

Sa Pangilinan v Cayetano case aniya, sinabi ng SC na tungkulin ng Pilipinas na makipagtulungan sa imbestigasyon ng ICC subalit tulad ni dating Pangulong Duterte ay ayaw itong sundin ni Marcos.

“The ruling clearly states that the country’s obligations under the Rome Statute, which it ratified, take precedence over any domestic law or executive order. It is imperative that the government upholds its obligations to international justice and human rights,” ayon pa kay Colmenares. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
