MAPAGKAISANG lider ang kinakailangan ngayon ng Kamara, ayon kay House deputy speaker at Cebu Rep. Duke Frasco kaya hindi niya suportado ang muling pamumuno ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez sa papasok na 20th Congress.

Kahapon ay nagbigay na ng kanyang panig ang mambabatas matapos siyang sibakin sa kanyang partido dahil sa hindi pakikiisa sa pagsuporta kay Romualdez.

“Our duty as public servants is not to advance individual interests, but to serve the Filipino people.”

Ganito binasag ni Frasco ang kanyang pananahimik sa hindi pagpirma sa manifesto ng kinabibilangang National Unity Party (NUP) sa speakership bid ni Romualdez.

Ayon sa mambabatas, noong Mayo 14, o dalawang araw pagkatapos ng 2025 midterm election ay inatasan siya ng NUP na lagdaan ang manifesto na ipagpatuloy ni Romualdez ang pamumuno sa Kamara hanggang sa 20th Congress.

“I have not signed the manifesto, and after careful reflection, I have decided not to,” ani Frasco na mister ni Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Maria Christina Frasco.

Ang kanya umanong desisyon ay base sa pakikipag-usap sa mga kasamahan sa Kongreso, maging sa mga local leader sa Visayas at Mindanao at kanyang mga constituent.

“A shared frustration has emerged. There is deep disappointment that the unity our people once hoped for has been steadily undermined by political and personal interests,” dagdag pa ni Frasco.

Sinabi ng mambabatas na mismong si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., ang nanawagan ng pagkakaisa at stability at maghatid ng makatotohanang pagbabago sa gobyerno.

“This decision is not about creating further division. I simply believe the House of Representatives can, and must, do better. We should be a partner in building the country up, not a platform for further discord,” ayon pa kay Frasco.

“At this critical time in our nation, I believe we need leadership in the House that unites rather than divides. Leadership that reinforces our shared vision and strengthens the path forward for our country,” dagdag pa nito.
