WALANG kinalaman ang pagsasara ng ABS-CBN at usapin ng press freedom o kalayaan ng pamamahayag sa Pilipinas ang inuumang na imbestigasyon ng Kamara sa National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) at Offce of the Solicitor General (OSG).

Ito ang nilinaw ni Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor sa kanyang inihaing House Resolution (HR) 846 na ang dahilan aniya ay ang pagsisinungaling at panloloko ng NTC sa Kapulungan.

“To be clear, this is not about the franchise of ABS-CBN, for that is a matter that will be dealt with in due time and in the manner that the House sees fit for the seriousness of the issues being raised,” ani Defensor.

“Nor is this about the freedom of the press, for as we can all see everyone is still free and able to express their views on what is happening in the country,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.

Ipinaliwanag ng mambabatas na hindi dapat palagpasin ang pagsisinungaling at panloloko umano ni NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba na mag-iisyu ang mga ito ng provisional authority upang hindi matigil ang operasyon ng ABS-CBN habang dinidinig pa sa Kongreso ang kanilang prangkisa.

Ginawa ni Cordoba ang paniniguro sa pagdinig ni House franchise committee chairman Franz Alvarez, noong Marso 10, subalit noong Mayo 5 ay nag-isyu ang komisyon ng CDO laban sa nasabing network.

“Know this – we will not stand for it and your actions will have serious consequences. For when you lie to us, you lie to the whole nation. When you try to deceive us, you are deceiving the Filipino people,” ani Defensor.

Damay sa imbestigasyon na ipinatawag ni Defensor si SoLGen Jose Calida dahil sa pakikialam nito sa trabaho ng Kongreso na magbigay ng prangkisa nang i-pressure umano nito ang NTC para maglabas ng CDO. BERNARD TAGUINOD
