MAYOR LANI CAYETANO MULING TATAKBONG ALKALDE NG TAGUIG

MAYOR Lani Cayetano on Monday officially filed her candidacy for reelection, aiming to secure a fifth term and continue making Taguig a transformative, lively, and caring city.

The mayor filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on October 7, 2024, at the New Taguig City Hall Convention Center accompanied by her husband, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.

Joining her in seeking reelection are her running mate, Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Villanueva Alit, Taguig-Pateros 1st District Representative Ricardo Samonte Cruz Jr., and the 24 councilors from Taguig- Pateros 1st and 2nd districts.

This year’s lineup also includes four new members from the Enlisted Men’s Barrios (EMBO) Barangays.

A program was also held at Diego Silang Covered Court in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City, where the Team Lani Cayetano’s (TLC) slate was introduced. Each candidate delivered a short message to the community.

“Tiwala po ako sa kakayahan ng bawat isang kandidato ng team TLC . May responsibilidad ako sa inyong lahat at ang panata ko ay makita ninyo na sulit ang boto niyo sa akin at sa aking mga kasamahan,” Mayor Lani said.

She also highlighted the progress the City of Taguig has made under her leadership since she first became mayor in 2010, emerging as the most improved city and the leading economic and business-friendly city in the National Capital Region.

“Ang lahat ng ito ay repleksyon ng vision na sama sama nating binuo. Ang vision ng Taguig na to have a transformative, lively, and caring city,” she said.

“Noong 2010 sinimulan nating bumuo ng pangarap at hindi tayo huminto. Isa na tayo sa mga kinikilalang premyadong lungsod hindi lang sa Pilipinas, kilala na rin sa buong mundo. Ito ang Taguig. Tayo ang Taguig,” she added.

Senator Cayetano also gave his support to the team, saying, “We are called to be agents of change and transformation. Duty po natin sa Taguig na pagandahin ang Taguig.”

Mayor Cayetano served as the Representative of the 1st District of Taguig-Pateros from 2007 to 2010, making history as the youngest and first female congressional representative of the city. She was then elected Mayor of Taguig, serving three consecutive terms from 2010 to 2019. Afterward, she returned to Congress for another term from 2019 to 2022, before resuming her role as the city’s chief executive in 2022

During her leadership, she fostered a business-friendly environment, fought against illegal activities, launched efforts against gambling and vices, and improved peace and order in Taguig City.
The city also provided free quality education from pre-school to graduate school and made healthcare more accessible by establishing 24/7 health centers, doctors-on-call, and home care for bedridden patients.

Mayor Lani also focused on vulnerable sectors, establishing a modern Center for the Elderly, delivering free maintenance medicines door-to-door, and launching a comprehensive community-based breast cancer program. (DANNY BACOLOD)
