BINIGYANG- pagkilala ng Armed Forces of the Philippine (AFP) ang namayapang beteranong actor na si Eduardo ” Eddie” Garcia bilang dating miyembro ng AFP o Philippine Scout member.
May itinalaga na tig-dalawang sundalo na magsasalitan at nilagyan din ng bandila ang lamay ng actor sa bahagi ng Heritage Park, Taguig.
Ayon kay Lt.  Col.. Ramon P. Zagala, tagapagsalita ng Philippine Army na “his deployment ceremony was held in Luneta, that was why he wished his ashes to be scattered in Manila Bay,”

Ayon kay Erwin Garcia, ang huling nabubuhay na anak ng aktor.
Labing siyam taon gulang lamang umano si Garcia nang boluntaryo itong sumama sa deployment sa Okinawa Japan.
Sinabi pa ni Zagala na “The Philippine Army condoles with the family of the late Eddie Garcia. We admire him not only as an actor but as a fellow comrade in arms. His desire for his ashes to be scattered on the Manila Bay speaks of his love of the noble profession of arms, despite his short-lived military career. He is an inspiration and an example that one does not have to be a soldier in order to serve the country.”
