IBOBOTO ni Deputy Speaker at Cebu Rep. Duke Frasco sinoman kina Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco at Bacolod Rep. Albee Benitez bilang Speaker ng Kamara sa susunod na Kongreso huwag lang si Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez.

Kasabay nito, mistulang nakiliti si Frasco sa espekulasyon na tatakbo ito bilang Speaker sa 20th Congress matapos makasama sa World Expo 2025 sa Osaka, Japan si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“Contrary to recent reports, I have not made any decision-much less offered myself-for the position of Speaker of the House in the 20th Congress,” ani Frasco.

Gayunpaman, nais umano nito na ang susunod mamuno sa Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ay kayang pagkaisahin, hindi lamang ang Kamara kundi ang buong bansa para sa kapakanan ng bansa.

Ito ang dahilan kaya hindi umano nito susuportahan si Romualdez na muling tatakbong Speaker sa 20th Congress kung saan ipinagmalaki ng kampo nito na umaabot na sa 285 congressmen ang sumusuporta sa kanya.

“I believe the House of Representatives must be a united and proactive partner in delivering meaningful, lasting change for the Filipino people. That said, if the election for Speaker were held today, my support would go to either Cong. Toby Tiangco or Cong. Albee Benitez,” ani Frasco.

Unang sinibak si Frasco sa National Unity Party (NUP) matapos tumangging lumagda sa manifesto ng partido na sumusuporta sa Speakership bid ni Romualdez sa 20th Congress.

Katwiran ni Frasco, marami umanong kumukuwestiyon sa direksyon ng kasalukuyang liderato ng Kamara kasunod ng resulta ng nakaraang eleksyon.

Gayunpaman, nananatili umano ang suporta ng mambabatas sa liderato ni Pangulong Marcos.

“At this time, my focus remains on supporting the President’s agenda and contributing to the broader goals of national unity and development. My commitment to the President’s vision remains firm,” giit ng mambabatas.
