NALALAKIHAN si Senador Panfilo Lacson sa hinihinging P4.5 bilyong intelligence at confidential funds ni Pangulong Duterte sa Office of the President (OP) para sa 2021 national budget kaya’t nangako itong kanyang hihimayin ang pondo.

Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Lacson na masyadong malaki ang hinihingi lalo na’t ilalaan lamang ito sa isang ahensiya at mas kailangan ng bansa ang maraming pondo upang tugunan ang corona virus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Humingi ang OP ng P8.23 bilyon badyet para sa susunod na taon, na mas mababa kumpara sa P8.25 bilyon ngayong taon.

Sa halagang ito, P2.25 bilyon ang mapupunta sa confidential funds kasama ang hiwalay na P2.25 bilyon para sa intelligence funds.

“It is a little lower but still a bit too much, because you know its started I think with P726 million… then it ballooned to something like P2 billion. And now it’s more than P4 billion just for the Office of the President,” ayon kay Lacson.

“When you say P4.5 billion a year under one agency, which is the Office of the President, which is not a big office, how do they spend that? That’s the question,” dagdag niya.

Bukod dito ang access ng Pangulo sa lahat ng intelligence funds sa ilalim ng ibang ahensiya sa Executive department, tulad ng Department of National Defense, Philippine National Police (PNP), National Security Agency (NSA), at iba pang ahensiya.

“You know, the President has control over all other intelligence funds of the entire bureaucracy, meaning the Executive department…Kontrolado pa rin ng Presidente ,” aniya.

“Kung gusto niya i-control ang release, he can control,” dagdag ng senador.

“You know, maybe it is time to really ask (about the intelligence fund), because these are clear (concerns),” ayon kay Lacson saka iginiit na hindi inilalantad sa publiko ang intelligence funds. (ESTONG REYES)
