BINIGYAN na ng go signal ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) para imbestigahan si Philippine ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro na nahuling nagmamaltrato sa kanyang Filipina service staff ng makailang beses.
Nauna nang sinabi ni DFA Sec. Teodoro Locsin Jr. na kailangan muna niyang makuha ang pag-apruba ni Pangulong Duterte para masimulan ang inbestigasyon kay Mauro.
“In light of the gravity of the allegations against the Ambassador, the President has given the green light to proceed with the investigation of the official concerned, as recommended by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs,” ayon kay Senador Bong Go.
Aniya, palagi namang matibay ang posisyon ng pangulo na proteksyunan at i-promote ang kapakanan at kabutihan ng mga Pinoy na nasa ibang bansa.
“Our Ambassadors are duty-bound to carry out this mandate, no questions asked,” ayon kay Go.
“The impartial investigation will be carried out consistent with relevant provisions of the law, particularly the Foreign Service Act of 1991,” dagdag na pahayag ni Go.
Sa ulat, nangako si Sec. Locsin na tutugunan ng departamento ang bagay na ito “to the fullest extent of the law.”
Nakasaad sa Section 51 ng Foreign Service Act na: “Chiefs of Mission who are commissioned by the President as ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary shall not be investigated by the Board or separated from the service unless there is an express written directive from the President.”
Nauna rito, inanunsyo ng DFA na mayroon itong binuong team para imbestigahan si Mauro, na hanggang sa ngayon ay wala pang ipinalalabas na pahayag sa usapin.
Ang nasabing kasambahay ni Mauro ay umalis ng Brazil noong Oktubre 21 at nakabalik na ng Pilipinas.
Sinabi ng DFA na nakipag-ugnayan na ang ahensiya sa kasambahay upang tiyakin na maayos ang kalagayan nito at makikiisa sa imbestigasyon. (CHRISTIAN DALE)
