PANDEMIC RESPONSE PRAYORIDAD SA 2022 BUDGET

KINUMPIRMA ni Senate Finance Committee Chairman Sonny Angara na ang pagtugon sa COVID 19 pandemic ang pinakamalaking bahagi sa bersyon ng Senado ng 2022 national budget.

Aminado si Angara na sa panukalang 2022 national budget na isinumite ng Malakanyang sa Kongreso, hindi kasama ang ilang mahahalagang item para sa pagtugon sa pandemya.

“Funds are very tight this year because as noted by our colleagues during the DBCC, parang hindi COVID budget yung sinubmit po ng DBM because there were no funds for contact tracing, no funds for testing outside of the booster shot, no funds for the testing of the 12 to 17 year olds, no funds for contact tracing, no funds for the SRA, the Special Risk Allowance of our health workers,” saad ni Angara.

Sa pagdinig ng 2022 budget of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), sinabi ni Angara na malaking hamon kung paano babalansehin ang interes at mga requirement ng iba’t ibang ahensya at pagtugon sa pandemic.

Bagama’t sisikapin anya ng Senado na tugunan ang mga kahilingan para sa dagdag na pondo ng iba’t ibang ahensya, magiging prayoridad pa rin ng kumite ang pagpapalakas ng health response.

“With the understanding of the department and all the other agencies, those will be our utmost priorities going into 2022. Yung health response po ng bansa, because that’s our very existence under threat,” diin ni Angara.

“You must admit that self-preservation is the ultimate goal of any individual or society. So, let’s preserve ourselves first and then we can go towards the other more lofty goals,” dagdag nito.

Sa ilalim ng P248.5 billion budget ng DILG sa 2022, walang probisyon para sa pagkuha ng contact tracers subalit may request na anya ang ahensya para sa pagkuha ng 25,000 contact tracers sa buong 2022. (DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
