ITUTULOY ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mga programa ng organisasyon na may kinalaman sa “peace and order” sa lipunan na umiral din sa nakalipas na administrasyon ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Tinanong kasi si Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles kung may marching orders ang Pangulo kay newly-appointed PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr.
Aniya, wala siyang ideya kung may “specific directives” mula sa Pangulo. Ang alam niya ay ang gagawing pagpapatuloy ng police force sa mga programa na nagmula sa Duterte administration na epektibo para panatilihin ang kapayapaan at kaayusan sa bansa.
“There are no marching orders that we know of. The primary mandate of the PNP is to keep order. So peace and order ang kanilang primary na mandato, pagkatapos niyan ay sila din po ang primary executors, they execute the law, they enforce the law. So beyond that, the President has not made any other specific orders,”ayon kay Cruz-Angeles.
“Paalala ko lang po, bahagi din naman po ng peace and order program ng Presidente ‘yung continuity. So whatever it was that has already been there from the past administration, if it works, we continue that program,” dagdag na pahayag nito.
Sa ulat, itinalaga ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. si Lt. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. bilang bagong chief ng Philippine National Police (PNP).
Nagtapos si Azurin sa Philippine Military Academy ‘Makatao’ Class of 1989.
Si Azurin ay commander ng Northern Luzon Police Area, nakasasakop sa Ilocos (Region 1), Cagayan Valley (Region 2), Central Luzon (Region 3) at Cordillera Administrative Region.
Nagsilbi rin si Azurin bilang commander ng Southern Luzon Police Area, kung saan saklaw nito ang Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) – Region 4-A; Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) – Region 4-B at Bicol (Region 5).
Nagsilbi rin si Azurin bilang Directorate for Comptrollership (DC) at Directorate for Information and Communication Technology Management (DICTM).
Nagsilbi rin si Azurin bilang director ng Maritime Group at naging regional director bg Police Regional Office 1 sa Ilocos.
Nagsilbi rin si Azurin bilang provincial director ng Benguet Province at Chief Task Force Limbas ng Highway Patrol Group (HPG) at naging Deputy Operations Officer of Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF). (CHRISTIAN DALE)
