HOST muli ang Pilipinas ng Southeast Asian Games.
Ngunit sa taong 2033 pa, ayon kay Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) prexy Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.
Ang ikalimang pagho-host ng bansa sa biennial meet ay bunsod ng matagumpay na 30th edition sa Manila, kung saan tinanghal na overall champion ang Team PH.
“We offered a bid to host anew in 2033 and the council unanimously approved,” ani Tolentino patungkol sa resulta ng SEA Games Federation Council Meeting noong Miyerkoles sa Phnom Penh, kung saan gaganapin ang 32nd edition.
Matatandaang nabalam ng isang taon ang 31st edition sa Hanoi dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic at natuloy nitong Mayo 2022 na.
Pagkatapos sa Cambodia sa susunod na taon (2023), babalik ang SEAG sa Bangkok (2025), Kuala Lumpur (2027), Singapore (2029) at Laos (2031).
Tanging Timor Leste ang hindi pa nagho-host ng biennial meet.
Unang naging host ang Pilipinas ng SEA Games noong 1981, nasundan ito noong 1991, 2005, at 2019.
“After presenting the hosting bid to the council, and following its approval, the POC and the SEA Games Council will ask the Philippine government to issue a letter of support,” dagdag ni Tolentino. “If the government declines, the hosting chores will be offered to another country.”
