“LIFE and death are in the power of tongue” (Proverbs 18:21). The tongue o ang dila natin ay nagre-represent ng ating speech. Ang ating mga speech o salitang binibitawan natin ay nakai-influence sa atin buhay o sa buhay ng iba. Kapag nagbitaw tayo ng mga salita ay maaaring magdulot ito ng negatibo o positibo na maaaring makaapekto sa ating spiritual, emotional at buong pagkatao natin.
Sa book of Genesis sa buong chapter 1, ay mababasa natin sa pamamagitan ng kanyang salita, ang anomang bigkasin niya o sabihin ay nagkakaroon ng katuparan; halimbawa, “And God said. ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light…” That’s how powerful the speech, words or tongue. By using our tongue, we could bless or curse. It can build-up or tear down, so, very important to tame our tongue.
Sabi nga ni St. James, slow to speak and quick to listen. Ni-remind din niya ang believers, “If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not bridle his tongue, he deceives his heart and his religion is worthless”, James 1:26.
Sa ating panahon sa kalagayang pampulitika, maraming politicians, broadcasters, bloggers at die hard followers ng mga artista at politicians ay nagpapahayag ng iba’t ibang baseless accusations. Kaya’t nakakasuhan ng cyberlibel o oral defamations.
Therefore dahil sa mga speech, nagkakaroon ng too much loose talks at mga kayabangan sa pagsasalita sa iba’t ibang platform, like radio, television, podcasts, interviews and speeches in different meeting. To cite an example, si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ay nakakulong sa The Hague at nililitis. Halos lahat ng mga ebidensya na ipinakita ng mga prosecutor ay galing sa speeches and interviews na binigkas ni Duterte. Gayundin sa personal and collective privilege speech ni Senator Panfilo Lacson kung saan ang tinutumbok ng speech ay patungkol kay Senator Rodante Marcoleta. Most of the basis of accusations ni Lacson ay sa mga pagsasalita ni Marcoleta sa TV program niya, sa hearing sa Kongreso, Senado at iba’t ibang meetings. My point is be sure na maging maingat sa pagsasalita. Spoken words cannot be recovered again!
Life and death are in the power of tongue. May nagsabi, “It is safer to keep silent than to speak.” “Silence is the mother of the truth.” “A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his souls.” (Proverbs 18:7). (giv777@myyahoo.com)
