PINATITIYAK ni Senate President Vicente Sotto III sa pamahalaan na nababantayan nito ang presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin at serbisyo ngayong nahaharap muli sa panibagong laban ang bansa sa COVID-19 virus.

Ayon kay Sotto, sa gitna ng tumataas na bilang ng mga tinatamaan ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19), pagpapatupad ng unified curfew hours at pag-regulate sa pagbiyahe sa Metro Manila ay dapat nababantayan ang taumbayan laban sa mga magsasamantala sa presyo ng pagkain.

“Buhay na buhay na naman ang takot sa puso ng ating mga kababayan. Muli na namang bumalik sa kanilang mga alaala ang mga hirap at pasakit na kanilang hinarap noong umpisa ng pandemya. Ang mga Pilipino, kaya nilang magtiis, pero hindi nila kayang magutom,” sabi ni Sotto.

“The government needs to assure our people that it is on top of the situation, that it is committed to protect everyone not only from the virus but also from unscrupulous individuals who have the gall to exploit our current state to enrich themselves,” dagdag pa nito.

Dapat aniyang batid na ng government leaders ang naranasan noong nakaraang taon kung saan pahirapan ang pagbili ng pagkain dahil sa paghihigpit sa paggalaw at curfew.

“The IATF should make sure that the transport of rice, vegetables and other agriculture products is not blocked or held in checkpoints. It should come up with stricter and immediate sanctions against scheming individuals or companies,” pahayag pa ni Sotto.

“Our people deserve competent and reliable leaders during these difficult times. People will follow and sacrifice if they see that the government’s programs are efficient and effective,” ayon pa rito. (NOEL ABUEL)
