GAGAMITIN ng Prosecution panel ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang ilan sa resource persons ng Quad Committee at Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability na nag-imbestiga sa confidential funds sa impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.

Kinumpirma ito ng isa sa 11 prosecutors na si Iloilo Rep. Lorenz Defensor subalit tumanggi itong pangalanan at kung ilan ang ihaharap nilang witness partikular na sa Article 2 na may kinalaman sa maanomalyang paggastos umano ni Duterte sa kanyang confidential funds sa Office of the Vice President (OVP) at maging sa dati nitong pinamumunuang Department of Education (DepEd).

“I won’t confirm that for the Article 2 team, but we can safely assume that many of those presented during the hearings of Quadcom and the Committee on Good Government will also be presented for trial,” ani Defensor sa isang online-press conference.

Sa June 2, 2025 ay iko-convene na ang Impeachment Court at sisimulan na ang paglilitis kay Duterte.

Gayunpaman, isa sa mga isyung pinagdedebatehan ay kung maaaring ituloy ang paglilitis dahil matatapos ang 19th Congress sa June 30, 2025 at magsisimula naman ang 20th Congress.

Subalit ayon kay Defensor, tanging ang 19th Congress ang matatapos at hindi kasama ang impeachment case ni Duterte kaya tiwala ang mga ito na matutuloy ang paglilitis kahit may mga bagong senador.

“Pero tandaan natin na kapag nagtapos ang 19th Congress, ang nagtatapos lang ang aming legislative power, hindi natatapos ang isang impeachment proceeding na nakahain na sa Senado,” ayon sa mambabatas.

Wala aniya itong ipinag-iba sa isang kaso sa korte kapag nagretiro na ang Judge o kaya na-promote ay hindi ito pwedeng i-dismiss.

“Hindi nadi-dismiss ang kaso just because napalitan ang mga judges and while we agree that the impeachment is not a judicial proceeding, the procedure when it comes to the trial, ang jurisdiction ng Senado hindi nawawala kahit nagbabago, so like new judges in a trial court, the senator judges that will come in in the 20th Congress will also take their oath and assume as senator judge, but it does not mean that the case will be dismissed,” paliwanag ng mambabatas.
