ITINALAGA si Advocates and Keepers of OFWs (AKO-OFW) founding chairman at OWWA Board of Trustee Dr. Celerino “Chie” Umandap bilang major sa reserve force ng Philippine Air Force.

Si Umandap ay isa rin sa mga kolumnista ng pahayagang Saksi Ngayon.

Ang AKO-OFW ay isang non-government organization ng migrant workers sa Middle East. Isa sa mga adbokasiya nito ay itaguyod ang respeto sa karapatan ng mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) at kanilang pamilya, at ipaalam ang kontribusyon ng mga OFW sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas at iba’t ibang panig ng mundo.

Ang kanyang appointment ay nakasaad sa isang liham na may petsang Setyembre 2, 2020 na ipinadala kay Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana mula sa Office of the President.

“I wish to inform you that, per endorsements from your Department and in accordance with the recommendations of the former Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines,pursuant to Section 39 of the National Defense Act, as amended, and in conjunction withSection 44 of Republic Act No. 7077, the commission of following five individuals in the Reserve Force, Armed Forces of the Philippines, with their respective ranks,” nakasaad sa liham.

Kasama ni Dr. Umandap na nakumpirma sina Zamboanga Sibugay Second District Representative Dulce Ann K. Hofer at Wendel Avisado na na-appoint bilang mga Lieutenant Colonel sa Philippine Air Force’s reserve force.

Habang sina Ilagan City Representative Frederick Siao at Romblon Governor Jose Riano ay parehong na-appoint bilang Lieutenant Colonel sa Philippine Army’s reserve force.
