HINDI na mahihirapan ang mga reperi sa kanilang officiating dahil simula sa Season 82 ng men’s at women’s volleyball tournament, ipatutupad na rin ng UAAP ang ‘video challenge system.’
Sa press conference kahapon sa SM Mall of Asia Arena, para sa pagsisimula ng second semester events, inihayag ni league president Em Fernandez ang implementasyon ng nasabing teknolohiya na tutulong sa mga reperi sa kanilang ‘decision-making process.’
“During the SEA Games we also saw the challenges that were implemented, we will also implement the challenge system during this year,” lahad ni Fernandez.
Sinuportahan din ito ni UAAP Volleyball Control Committee president Norren Go, na ayon sa kanya ay ipa-pattern sa ginamit sa nakaraang Southeast Asian Games.
“We will pattern the challenge system after the SEA Games. We’re still finalizing all the details and we will release a memorandum to all schools, all the people involved and the media as well. We want to orient them with the correct rules and the guidelines,” paliwanag ni Go.
Ito ang unang pagkakataon na gagamitin ng liga ang naturang sistema, na unang ipinakilala sa Pilipinas noong 2015.
Agad masusubok ang nasabing sistema sa pagbubukas sa Sabado (Pebrero 15) ng mga laro sa men’s at women’s division.
“We just actually discussed it in length just this week. It will be in time for the opening,” dagdag ni Go.
Maghaharap sa opening day sa men’s division ang University of the East at University of the Philippines sa alas-9:00 ng umaga, kasunod sa alas-11:00 ang Lady Warriors at Lady Maroons.
Pagsapit ng alas-2:00 ng hapon ay magpapang-abot ang FEU Tamaraws at UST Tigers, at sa huling laro sa alas-4:00 ay maglalaban ang Lady Tams at Tigresses. (VT ROMANO)
