INIHAYAG ng Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) ang pagkakaaresto kamakailan kay Richard Posas Bolastig, isa sa gunmen na pumatay sa isang journalist na si Dennis Denora.

Sa report na isinumite sa Malacañang ni P/Lt. Col. Atty. Verna Cabuhat, acting chief of police ng Panabo City Police, isinilbi ng police operatives ang court-issued warrant laban kay Bolastig para sa kasong murder kay Denora, ayon sa direktiba ng nasabing task force.

Si Bolastig ay kasalukuyan nakakulong sa Tagum City Jail habang hinihintay ang pagdinig ng kaso.

“This is proof of the government’s unwavering commitment to bring to justice all perpetrators of media killings in the country. I commend the men and women of the PNP for capturing this most wanted criminal. We will not rest until all those responsible for the murder of Dennis Denora are brought to justice,” ani PTFoMS Co-Chair at Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin M. Andanar.

Para naman kay Undersecretary Joel Sy Egco, Executive Director ng PTFoMS, sinabi niyang ang pagkakaaresto kay Bolastig “is a validation of President Duterte’s unbroken promise to end the plague of violence against media workers by bringing perpetrators behind bars”.

Si Denora, publisher ng Trends and Times, isang community paper na nakabase sa Davao del Norte, ay binaril at napatay ng dalawang gunmen sa ambush sa Panabo City noong Hunyo 7, 2018. Kabilang umano sa mga suspek ay kinilalang si Bolastig.

Matatandaan, kinasuhan ng murder si Bolastig at isang hindi pa kilalang kasama nito noong 2019 dahi sa pagpatay kay Denora, sa ilalim ng Criminal Case no. 425-2019.

Ang kaso ay kasalukuyang nakabinbin sa Branch 4 ng Regional Trial Court of Panabo City, sa sala ni Judge Carmel Gil Grado. (JOEL O. AMONGO)
