SA halip humupa ang haka-haka, lalong dumami ang nagdududa kahit pa itinanggi ng mga opisyal ng pamahalaan na si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang lalaking nasa viral video na may tila pulbos na sininghot.

Nakasaad ito sa inilabas na pahayag ni Davao Rep. Paolo “Polong” Duterte kasabay ng pagtanggi na may kinalaman ang Hakbang ng Maisug national leadership sa paglabas ng nasabing video.

Nagkalat na sa social media ang nasabing video kung saan makikita na akmang gumagamit ng cocaine ang lalaking itinurong si Marcos Jr., na ipinalabas sa pagtitipon ng Maisug supporters sa Vancouver, Canada at Los Angeles sa Amerika.

Sa statement Duterte, sariling desisyon ng Maisug volunteers ang pagpapalabas sa nasabing video.

“It was a decision made entirely by the Maisug volunteers in the said two places without the knowledge and imprimatur of the Maisug organizing committee. The members of the Maisug leadership were just as surprised as the rest of the country when they saw it for the first time,” ayon sa statement.

Hindi ikinagulat ni Duterte ang reaksyon ng Marcos administration sa binansagang “polvoron” video subalit, aniya, “simple denial actually reinforces the simmering suspicions of President Marcos’ drug addiction. As any lawyer knows, denial is the weakest form of defense. It has to do better than that”.

Iginiit ni Duterte na kung nais ni Marcos na patunayan na hindi siya nagdodroga ay dapat sumailalim ito sa tinatawag na “follicle drug test” at dapat gawin ito ng isang mapagkatiwalaang drug testing center.

Gayunpaman, tuwing hinahamon aniya ang Pangulo na magpa-drug test ay pinagtatawanan niya ito.

“A drug user for a President is no laughing matter and he should be first the one to know that. In a critical juncture in the nation’s history when he has threatened to send the country’s soldiers to war, the President’s drug habit poses a clear and present danger,” ayon pa kay Duterte.

Pinitik din ni Duterte si National Defense (DND) Secretary Teodoro na siyang nagdepensa sa Pangulo dahil ito ay “slap in the face of every patriotic and honorable soldiers who lives by the military’s highest code of conduct”.

“It is bad enough that the DND has to do the dirty job of issuing the denial. It is worse that doing so it has become a party to a despicable act it should have been fighting against in the first place,” ayon pa sa statement ni Duterte.

Ang nasabing video na tinawag ni Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro na peke ay bahagi umano ng destabilization plot laban sa Pangulo kaya iimbestigahan nila ito at pananagutin ang mga nasa likod nito.

Kaugnay nito, sinabi ng Department of Justice (DOJ) na gagawa sila ng hakbang laban sa mga indibidwal na nasa likod ng pagpapakalat ng nasabing pekeng video.

Paliwanag ni Justice spokesperson Mico Clavano, ilegal ang paggawa at pagpapakalat ng naturang video sa ilalim ng Article 154 ng Revised Penal Code na nagpaparusa sa unlawful publication of materials na may kaakibat na parusa na posibleng pagkakulong ng isang buwan at isang araw hanggang 6 na buwan.

Sinisira din aniya ng malisyosong gawain na ito ang tiwala ng publiko at banta sa kaayusan ang pagpapakalat ng maling impormasyon. (May dagdag na ulat si JULIET PACOT)
