Truth Prevails: Cyber Libel Arrest Underlines Importance of Responsible Online Communication

Antipolo City, February 22, 2025 – In an unwavering commitment to upholding the truth and enforcing the law, authorities have successfully executed a warrant of arrest against Aira Jane Barredo of 45-B Sampaguita Street, Lopezville Subdivision, Mayamot, Antipolo City.

The arrest, carried out under the authority of a warrant issued by the Nueva Ecija Regional Trial Court (RTC) 34 with Criminal Case No. 29583-25 to 29584-25, brings to light a significant violation of Section 4, Paragraph (c), Clause 4 of the RA 10175, also known as the Anti Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, specifically addressing Cyber Libel. The warrant was released on February 12, 2025.

Following her arrest, Ms. Barredo has been attending her hearings at RTC 47, facing charges of unjust vexation filed by Ryan Armenta and Katherine Melendez.

According to reports from 2023, Aira Jane Barredo has previously been accused of cyber libel, unjust vexation, among other charges, filed by Ryan Armenta and Katherine Melendez in Pampanga, with additional allegations of cyber libel filed by Inah Patricia Simon in Caloocan.
