Ipinarada ng India si former NBA G League Ignite center Princepal Singh, habang ang New Zealand ay bitbit si dating La Salle center Taane Samuel, gayundin si last season’s NZ NBL MVP Dion Prewster.
Pangungunahan naman ng tropa ni coach Chot Reyes na tatawaging Gilas XII sina Angelo Kouame, Thirdy Ravena, Dwight ramos, Juan Gomez de Liano, Lebron Lopez, Gilas draftees William Navarro at Jaydee Tungcab.
Inaasahang lalaro din sa koponan sina Kib Montalbo at 6-foot-7 Tzaddy Rangel,
pati sina Roger Pogoy, Kelly Williams, Gab Banal, Troy Rosario, Poy Erram at Robert Bolick.
Habang isinusulat ito, maaari pang magpalit ng lineup ang Gilas Pilipinas hanggang alas-sais kagabi.
May 12 manlalaro naman ang India bukod kay Singh para sa Big Dome bubble event. Nasa lineup ng team sina Amritpal Singh, Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, Muin Bek Hafeez, Pranav Prince, Aravind
Annadurai, Manoj Belur Manjunatha, Palpreet Singh Brar, Rajeev Kumar, Arvind Kumar Muthu Krishnan, Prashant Singh Rawat at Sahaij Pratap Singh Sekhon.
Maliban sa Group A teams, patuloy ang kampanya ng ibang bansa sa Asian qualifiers sa home-and-away format.
Nagpahayag naman ang Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) ng simpatiya sa sinapit ng South Korean team.
“The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has formally received word from FIBA that Korea can no longer send a team to compete in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 – Asian qualifiers hosted in the Philippines this week.”
Dagdag ni SBP president Al Panlilio: “We at the SBP commiserate with our friends from Korea as we know how difficult it is to deal with COVID-19. The SBP hopes that all the members of the team who caught the virus will get well at the soonest time possible.”
Sa pag-withdraw ng South Korean team, nangangahulugan ito ng 0-4 record nila papasok sa second window sa Hunyo.
