TAMBAK na ang posisyon sa Department of Education (DepEd) na ayaw lagyan ng tao ng ahensya kaya lalong nahihirapan ang public school teachers dahil gumagawa ang mga ito ng ibang trabaho bukod sa pagtuturo.

Ito ang reklamo ni ACT party-list Rep. France Castro matapos matuklasan na umaabot na sa 63,035 ang plantilla position sa DepEd ang hindi nilalagyan ng mga tao.

Sa nasabing bilang, 12,206 dito ay para sa  non-teaching positions, 41,510 para sa teaching positions at 9,319 ay para naman sa teaching related positions, subalit hindi kumukuha ang ahensya ng mga tao para dito.

“The number of unfilled positions in the Department of Education means that teachers have double the work to be able to meet the targets set by the education agency and provide quality education to our youth,” ani Castro.

Sinabi ng mambabatas na dahil ayaw maglagay ng mga tao ang DepEd sa 12,206  non-teaching position ay napipilitan ang mga guro ang gawin ang clerical work at iba pang trabaho.

“Education support personnel have vital roles on the quality of education for our youth. ESPs comprises a wide range of professional, administrative, technical, and general staff working within the education sector such as teaching assistants, school nurses and guidance counselors, janitors, and security guards, among others,” ani Castro.

“Without them, teachers are forced to become teacher-nurses, teacher-janitors, teacher-clerks, teacher-librarians, teacher-property custodian, teacher-guards, among other tasks,” dagdag pa nito.

Dahil dito, huwag na aniyang magtaka kung bakit apektado ang kalidad ng edukasyon sa bansa dahil ang mga tinatambakan ng trabaho ang mga public school teachers na hindi naman sila ang dapat gumawa.

Hindi sinabi ng mambabatas kung magkno ang savings ng DepEd sa hindi pagkuha ng mga tao para sa mga nabanggit na posisyon subalit ipinaalala nito sa ahensya na mas mahalaga ang kalidad ng edukasyon kesa sa matitipid na pondo.
