AABOT sa 66.2 milyong piso ang nasabat ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Subic na dalawang shipments ng smuggled cigarettes noong nakaraang Mayo 28, 2021.
Noong Mayo 19, 2021, isang forty-footer container na naglalaman ng footwear ay naka-consigned sa RNRS Trading na dumating sa Port of
Subic.
Isa pang 1×40 shipment ng cartons film (stretch) na naka-consigned sa Heybronze Non-Specialized Wholesale Trading ang dumating sa nasabing Port sa parehong araw.
Ang mga shipments ay isinailalim sa physical examination na sinaksihan ng mga kinatawan mula sa JTI at PMFTC na kung saan ay nadiskubre ang iba’t ibang pekeng yosi na may mga brand na Marvels Menthol, Marvels Filter, Two Moon Filter, Two Moon Menthol, Fort Menthol 100’s, Mighty Menthol, Champion at Jackpot.
Kaugnay nito, nag-isyu ng Warrant of Seizure and Detention noong Mayo 28, 2021 laban sa nabanggit na shipments para sa paglabag sa National Tobacco Administration (NTA) Memorandum Circular No. 03, series of 2004; NTA Board Resolution No. 079-2005; Section 155 of R.A. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines); at Section 1400.
Ito ay may kaugnayan sa Section 1113 (f) of Republic Act No. 10863 o mas kilala bilang Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
