WALANG planong magdeklara ng holiday truce sa Communist Party of the Philippines at kanilang armadong galamay na New People’s Army, ang gobyerno ngayong nalalapit na kapaskuhan.

Ayon kay Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., hindi magdedeklara ng tigil-putukan ang pamahalaan sa hanay ng CPP-NPA-NDF ngayong panahon ng kapaskuhan.

“Any ceasefire with the CPP-NPA-NDF is a ceasefire against terrorists and criminals. It is a last-ditch measure of a Jurassic group to find relevance in the national political ecosystem,” ayon kay Sec. Teodoro.

Inihayag din ni Col. Francel Margareth Padilla, Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesperson, hindi nila tatantanan ang CPP-NPA kahit Pasko dahil tuloy-tuloy ang kanilang opensiba laban sa nalalabing kasapi ng NPA.

“Over the years, the CPP has shown that they are anti-government, anti-development and anti-people, so with this, the AFP will continue with our internal security operations,” ani Padilla sa isang pulong balitaan.

“Rest assured, tuluy-tuloy tayo with all our internal security operations for us to sustain the gains that we have… and we will always be ready for any eventuality.”

Deadma naman ang CPP-NPA sa pahayag ng pamahalaan, dahil hindi rin talaga sila magdedeklara ng tigil-putukan lalo pa’t ipagdiriwang nila ang kanilang 56th anniversary sa Disyembre 26 na patatampukin umano ng kanilang mga opensibang gerilya.

Sinabi rin ng CPP-NPA, hindi ito magdedeklara ng ceasefire dahil sa umano’y patuloy na mga pag-atake ng pwersa ng gobyerno, at niyuyurakan ang political at civil rights at maging ang international humanitarian law.

“In anticipation of the holidays and the upcoming 56th anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines, units of the NPA and local peasant mass organizations in the countryside are busy preparing meetings and small assemblies in order to celebrate past victories, take stock of weaknesses and strengths, and reaffirm their resolve to wage greater struggles in the coming year,” pahayag nito.

Pinabulaanan din ng kilusan ang pahayag ng pamahalaan na ang New People’s Army ay mayroon na lamang isang “weakened” guerrilla front, na tinawag itong “disinformation.”

Nauna nang sinabi ni AFP spokesperson Colonel Francel Padilla, ang natitirang “weakened” NPA guerilla front ay hindi na makapaglulunsad ng anomang major operations sa bansa.

Bukod dito, ipinahayag din ng tagapagsalita ng Hukbong Sandatahan ng Pilipinas, na matagal nang dumaranas ng leadership vacuum ang CPP-NPA-NDFP

Subalit, iginiit ng CPP na, “To boost its public image, the AFP has intensified its war of disinformation by making the ludicrous claim that the New People’s Army has only ‘one weakened’ guerrilla front.”

Nang likhain ang National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) noong Disyembre 2018, ay may 89 active guerrilla fronts sa buong bansa hanggang sa ideklara kamakailan ng NTF-ELCAC, na may isa na lamang weakened guerilla na nalalabi na target durugin ng militar sa susunod na mga araw.
