“PWEDE ba tumigil na kayo?… Tumigil na kayo!”

Bahagi ito ng homily ni Diocese of Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Antonio Tobias sa Thanksgiving Mass na inisponsoran ng tanggapan ni House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III sa Mababang Kapulungan kahapon.

Sa harap ni Dy kasama ang ilang mambabatas at mga opisyales at empleyado ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso, naging laman ng homily ni Tobias ang katiwalian sa bansa ngayon na kinasasangkutan ng ilang kongresista.

“Let me say the involvement of our congressmen and leaders of the country in the recent massive corruption extending to several years of the Duterte administration is a great disgrace to your office and a betrayal of public trust entrusted to you,” ani Tobias.

Sa ngayon bukod kina dating House Speaker Martin Romualdez at dating Congressman Zaldy Co, idinadawit din sa anomalya sa flood control projects ang ilang miyembro ng Kapulungan – ilan na sa mga ito ay humarap na sa Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) investigation.

Kasamang isinasangkot sa anomalya ang ilang matataas na miyembro ng Gabinete ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., at maging ang ilang senador at mga opisyal ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“When this becomes pervasive, in all branches of the government, the situation may lead the country to total disarray. That the sovereign will of the people become more operative in that situation,” mensahe pa ni Tobias.

Noong Linggo ay muling nagsagawa ng kilos protesta ang iba’t ibang sektor kasama ang Simbahan laban sa katiwalian at nanawagan ng mabilis na imbestigasyon at pagpapanagot sa mga sangkot.

“I am one with my other bishop in their general call for resignation of all officials from the president and the vice president down to the senator and congressmen. This is an ultimate measure,” ayon kay Tobias para maiwasan power grab at maupo ang mga oportunista.
