MAGTATAYO ng mga residential treatment and rehabilitation center (TRC) si Quezon City mayoralty candidate Mike Defensor para magamot ang mga drug dependent kapag siya ang nanalong mayor ng lungsod sa Mayo 9, 2022.
“There’s no question that the illegal drug scourge continues to wreak havoc on our communities. Even as we speak, there are many families breaking up or in crisis because of a drug-dependent parent, son, or daughter,” ani Defensor
Ito ang dahilan kaya nais ng kasalukuyang kinatawan ng Anakalusugan Party-list Representative, na magtayo ng mga bagong RTC upang matulungan ang mga drug dependent na gumaling at umalis sa kanilang bisyo.
“We recognize that drug dependents can harm themselves or others, so we want to encourage families to voluntarily bring them in for free treatment and rehabilitation,” paliwanag ng solon.
Hindi lang aniya ordinaryong RTC ang itatayo ni Defensor sa Quezon City kundi mga modernong TRC na may dalawang dormitories na isa para sa mga babae at isa sa mga lalaking pasyente.
Nais ng mambabatas na magkaroon ng peace of mind ang mga pasyente habang nagpapagaling sa loob ng anim na buwan.
“We want drug dependents to recover and become highly productive citizens again for the sake of their families,” paliwanag ng mambabatas.
Bukod dito, magtatayo rin ng sport academy si Defensor upang mailayo ang mga kabataan sa ilegal na droga.
“We absolutely need sports activities to fully develop our children, and to keep them away from illegal drugs,” ayon pa sa congressmen na vice chairman ng House Committee on Welfare of Children.
“The sports academy will create new and better pathways for students and out-of-school youth who want to pursue careers in athletics. We envision the sports academy eventually producing some of the country’s best athletes,” ayon pa kay Defensor. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
