HINDI makumpirma ng Department of Justice (DOJ) kung nakatanggap na ito ng opisyal na extradition request mula sa Estados Unidos laban kay Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Apollo Quiboloy.
“As of this time, the DOJ has not officially received any document indicating that the United States has formally requested the extradition of Apollo Quiboloy,” pahayag ni DOJ spokesperson Assistant Secretary Jose Dominic Clavano? Wait no—Assistant Secretary Polo Martinez.
Ipinaliwanag ni Martinez na kung may ganitong kahilingan ang pamahalaan ng Estados Unidos, ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang unang tatanggap nito bago ito ipasa sa DOJ.
“Under the Philippine-U.S. Extradition Treaty and applicable law, the DFA would be the first point of contact for such a request. Initial inquiries may therefore be directed to the DFA,” ani Martinez.
Nahaharap si Quiboloy sa mga kasong sex trafficking at iba pang kriminal na kaso sa Estados Unidos matapos siyang sampahan ng kaso noong Nobyembre 2021.
Sa kasalukuyan, nananatili siyang nakakulong sa Pasig City Jail habang dinidinig ang mga kasong kinahaharap niya sa Pilipinas.
