UMAASA si Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte na ang kanyang magiging “successor” ay mas may kakayahan na tugunan ang mga isyu sa bansa matapos niyang bumaba sa susunod na taon.

Ang pahayag na ito ni Pangulong Duterte ay makaraang magpalabas ang World Bank ng masamang ulat ukol sa kalagayan ng edukasyon ng Pilipinas.

Humingi naman ng paumanhin ang World Bank sa paglalathala ng data na hindi man lamang kinokonsidera ang inputs ng Department of Education (DepEd).

“Kung may pera sanang marami then we could have upgrade in everything but we have not been able to work in our economy. Maganda sana umaakyat tayo. Hindi naman, not calls for celebration, it could sometimes give us the optimism to improve in everything,” ayon kay Pangulong Duterte sa kanyang Talk to the People, Lunes ng gabi.

“But anyway we will just work on it, I hope the next admin will be more competent than us now. More bright than us now and more productive than us now,” dagdag na pahayag nito.

Tiniyak nito na itsi-cheer pa niya ang susunod na administrasyon.

“I would be on the sidelines giving inputs what I can provide for us and advice,” ayon sa Chief Executive.

Pinuri naman ni Pangulong Duterte si Education Secretary Leonor Briones dahil agad na nag-demand ito ng apology mula sa World Bank, na nagpalabas ng data na 80% ng mga estudyanteng Filipino ay bumagsak sa “below the minimum proficiency levels.”

Inaasahan din ng Punong Ehekutibo na gagawa ang World Bank ng mas “accurate” assessment sa Philippine education system.

“I hope a more accurate report based on the latest data will be made. I’m sure that the Department of Education is working on a new set of data for them so that they can correct the figures and data inputs,” ani Pangulong Duterte.

“On that note for that sake of transparency and policy direction, we would like to know the latest assessment, matrix of student performance and achievements as well as the latest national data and figures in terms of learning outcomes and learning especially during pandemic so we can identify which gaps we can address,” dagdag na pahayag nito.

Binigyang diin ni Pangulong Duterte na ginagawa ng DepEd ang makakaya nito para itama ang “misconception” at tiyakin na makapagbibigay ito ng data sa World Bank para makapag-presenta ng “accurate situation” ng Pilipinas.

Nito namang nakaraang linggo ay humirit si Vice President Leni Robredo sa pamahalaan na magdeklara ng krisis sa edukasyon.

Pinalagan naman ni Briones ang panawagan ni Robredo sabay sabing “Philippines only joined the international education assessment in 2018.” (CHRISTIAN DALE)
