Hail & Wuling unveil EV Driver to Owner Program

QUEZON CITY — Hail Transport, Inc. (Hail), in an exclusive partnership with GM Wuling Philippines (Wuling) on Friday (June 20) launched the first-of-its-kind Driver to Owner Program at the Ground Floor of GBF Building Bridgetown here.

The program is an all-Filipino for the Filipino Initiative to improve the livelihood of Filipino drivers.

It was launched in support of the Department of Transportation'(DOTr) modernization efforts and its goal of improving the commuter experience, and is fully compliant with the LTFRB’s Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) guidelines and public transport initiatives.

It empowers TNVS and taxi drivers by offering full vehicle ownership within a period of seven years without burdensome amortizations or boundary fees.

Hail, together with Lloyd Lee, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wuling, alongside with his better half, Shamcey Supsup-Lee spearheaded the launching ceremonies.

She was the Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2011 and Miss Universe 2011 (3rd Runner-up.

In a press conference, Shamcey Supsup-Lee, Wuling Ambassador, said that they are very very happy in the partnership with Hail.

She expressed the hope that more and more Filipinos will utilize EV.

“Our vehicles will only cost PHP1.00 per kilometer and would mean more savings for the drivers,” she said.

She said that 200 plus buildings or malls will donate charging stations for EVs, with 10 charging stations at the second floor of the GBF Building which is sponsored by Wuling.

With one hour charging, it’s 10% and with 8 hours charging, it’s 100%.

However, there will be charging fees for non-Hail or non-Wuling EV owners.

EV has a range of 300 kilometers and the electric power will not be fully consumed.

She said that her husband is very optimistic about the partnership between Hail and Wuling.

Wuling is a trailblazer in offering affordable and reliable electric vehicles in Asia.

It introduces high-quality, coding-exempt EV models with strong warranties and dealer support.

“It’s not about profit, but for the Filipinos to realize the perks and benefits of electric,” she said.

Lloyd Lee, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wuling, said that the Hail and Wuling partnership is fully compliant with the government’s transport modernization program.

He said that the battery is good for eight years and with 2,000 cycles depending on the use of the EV.

Engr. Enrico Tamayo, Hail President; said that they will be deploying 20,000 Hail & Wuling EV, with the initial 5,000 units. “This is the most opportune time for TNVS. The use of EV is more economical than the traditional vehicles,” Tamayo said.

“We will do this step by step. After seven years, our drivers will get loyalty award,” he added.

Tamayo will be flying to Palawan to start the program.

Wuling and Hail brand is better than the other brands.

Michael Delos Santos, Hail Chief Business Officer; assured that the company is a 100% Filipino owned.

“We call this a program from driver to owner,” he said.

“After you earn PHP3,000, you can go home already. It will help a lot of Filipino drivers,” he added.

“If you’re a loyal driver, you will have loyalty award not like with other TNVS,” he said.

Hail welcomed all other drivers to join the program.

“We will be putting up fast charging stations for the Hail and Wuling EVs,” he said.

Considering the spiraling cost of petroleum products, he said, it’s now time for the EV.

He stressed that they would not put their drivers and passengers at harm by giving them trainings and seminars.

Once they launched the user’s app, he said, they will be giving free 500 rides for the next 30 days.
