MABABALOT ng dilim ang mga probinsya ng Mindoro kapag hindi tinulungan ng National Power Corporation (NPC) at Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) at hindi ilabas ang fuel subsidy sa nasabing mga probinsya.
Ayon kay House Deputy Minority Leader Carlos Zarate, nakararanas na ng black-out ang Occidental Mindoro ngayon at posibleng magaya rito ang Oriental Mindoro kapag hindi agad kumilos ang nabanggit na mga ahensya.
“The power situation of the two provinces are the same; the only difference is that the power providers in Oriental Mindoro has not shut down yet but if the NPC and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) would not act immediately and release the fuel subsidy then a total black-out in Oriental Mindoro may also happen in the near future,” ayon sa outgoing solon.
Naapektuhan umano ang supply ng kuryente sa dalawang lalawigan ng Isla ng Mindoro dahil hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa inire-release ng NPC ang P100 million fuel subsidy.
Ilang araw pa lamang umano ang nakalilipas ay nabigo ang tatlong power providers ng Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (Ormeco) sa fuel supply sa loob at labas ng probinsya kaya kulang umano ang mga ito ng 18 megawatts (MW).
Nangangahulugan aniya ito na magiging madalas na ang brown-out sa Oriental Mindoro at kung hindi pa rin umano ito matugunan ay hindi malayong magkakaroon ng black-out na tulad ng nararanasan ngayon sa Occidental Mindoro.
“As it is, a 15 megawatt power generator needs P5 million per day to run, but without the fuel subsidy from the NPC to be ordered by the ERC, it seems that the power providers cannot shoulder the costs anymore and the fuel suppliers do not want to release fuel until they are paid,” ayon pa kay Zarate.
Dahil dito, kinalampag ng mambabatas ang NPC at ERC para kumilos agad at resolbahin ang problema sa lalong madaling panahon upang hindi mabalot sa dilim ang dalawang probinsya sa nasabing lalawigan. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
