Sa wakas, nakakolekta ang Port of Tacloban ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ng P1.006 bilyon hanggang Nobyembre 29 ng kasalukuyang taon.
Ayon kay Acting District Collector Jose A. Naig, ang kitang ito ay “record-breaking” sa kasaysayan ng pangongolekta ng buwis ng Port of Tacloban, sapagkat ngayon lang ito naganap.
Dahil dito, kasama na ngayon ang nasabing port sa iba pa na mahigit P1 bilyon ang koleksyon.
Ang District Port of Tacloban ay binubuo ng Sub-ports ng Isabel at Catbalogan City (Customs Collection District No. P08).
Sa press statement ng ahensya, inihayag ni Naig na ang P1.006 bilyong nakolekta ay katumbas ng 213 porsiyentong pagtaas sa koleksyon mula sa target na P321 milyon para taong kasalukuyan.
Inaasahan na lalaki pa ito dahil sa pagpasok ng koleksyon ngayong Disyembre.
Idiniin ni Naig na ang matagumpay ng Port of Tacloban ay resulta ng “increased volume of cargoes that arrived at the Port of Tacloban, Babatngon Port and its sub-ports.”
Aniya, ang totoo ay P267 milyon ang tax collection target ngayong 2018, subalit dinagdagan ito ng P34 milyon noong noong Agosto o ikatlong kwarter.
Walang problema rito dahil kahit noong ikalawang kwarter ay linampasan na ng Tacloban port ang target collection, sapagkat nakakolekta na ito ng P392 milyon, tugon ni Naig.
“The strict implementation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863) and intensified operations against customs fraud of the Collection District 8 has resulted to a record-breaking accomplishment. This was also made possible through the assistance of our Acting Deputy District Collector Diogenes A. Cenita, Sub-Port Collectors Avelino C. Alberca and Lourdita M. Tupa of Catbalogan and Isabel respectively, as well as the utmost cooperation of all division chiefs and employees through the guidance of our then Commissioner Isidro Lapeña and now Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero,” paliwanag ni Naig.
Tiniyak ng pamunuan ng port na patuloy nitong pag-iibayuhin ang trabaho nito upang magtuluy-tuloy ang mataas na koleksyon ng buwis alinsunod sa itinakda ni Guerrero.
