TINABLA ng Mindanao congressmen ang Mindanao secession nina dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at dating House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez sa pamamagitan ng manifesto.

Kahapon ay pormal na inilabas ang manifesto na nagre-reject sa panawagan nina Duterte at Alvarez na ihiwalay ang Mindanao sa Pilipinas, na pinirmahan ng 57 congressmen na kinabibilangan ng 53 mula sa nasabing rehiyon, 3 party-list representatives at isang Visayan solon.

“We signed the manifesto as one voice, one nation, rejecting all calls for the secession of Mindanao. We will not be a party to an unconstitutional proposal to break the territorial integrity of the Philippines. We make our intentions known, as Mindanao lawmakers,” ayon kay Lanao del Norte Rep. Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo, chairman ng House Committee on Muslim Affairs.

Magugunita na inilutang nina Duterte at Alvarez ang Mindanao secession at ikinatwiran na marami nang naging Pangulo ng bansa subalit hindi pa rin nagbabago ang kanilang rehiyon.

Umani ito ng kritisismo sa iba’t ibang grupo maging sa oposisyon.

“We, the elected representatives of Mindanao in the House of Representatives, firmly oppose the calls for the secession of Mindanao from the Republic of the Philippines. Our stance is deeply rooted in our belief in national unity, the power of inclusive development, and the promise of a peaceful, progressive future for all Filipinos, including the indigenous people of Mindanao,” ayon sa manifesto.

Umapela rin ang signatories sa manifesto na kasuhan ang mga taong naglalagay sa panganib sa kapayapaan at seguridad ng bansa subalit hindi nagbanggit ang mga ito kung sino ang kanilang tinutukoy.
