MISTULANG dinidedma umano ng Philippine Army (PA) at Department of Education (DepEd) sa Rizal ang Korte Suprema dahil patuloy ang kanilang pangre-red-tag sa mga kabataan na kontra sa Charter change (Cha-cha) at nananawagan na palayain ang mga political prisoner.

Ginawa ni House deputy minority leader at ACT party-list Rep. France Castro ang pahayag kasabay ng pagkondena sa pagpapakalat umano ng pamphlets ng 80th Infantry Battalion at DepEd sa lalawigan ng Rizal na nagbabansag bilang mga terorista sa mga estudyante at kabataan na nakikipaglaban sa nasabing mga isyu.

“This is a clear case of harassment and intimidation of our youth, and a blatant disregard of the Supreme Court’s ruling that red-tagging is a dangerous practice that puts lives in peril. It is unacceptable that the military, and DepEd in coordination with the NTF-ELCAC, is using taxpayers’ money to spread disinformation and terrorize our students,” ani Castro.

Magugunita na kamakailan lamang ay naglabas ng ruling ang SC na inilalagay ng mga red-tagger sa panganib ang buhay, kaligtasan at kalayaan ng nire-red-tag ng mga ito.

Nabatid sa mambabatas na sa pamamagitan ng flyers, magkatuwang ang AFP at DepEd Rizal sa pagpapakalat ng mga maling impormasyon at tinawag na recruiter umano ng New People’s Army (NPA) ang mga progresibong kabataan kasama na ang nagsusuot ng Serve The People (STP) shirts at sumasali sa mga rally.

“The recent incident in Rizal is a clear example of the dangers of red-tagging. It is a threat not only to our youth but also to our democracy. We will not tolerate this kind of harassment and intimidation. We will continue to fight for the rights of our students and our people,” ani Castro.

Dahil dito, umapela ang mambabatas sa Kongreso na iprayoridad ang panukalang batas na magpaparusa sa mga red-tagger dahil tulad ng ruling ng SC ay nalalagay sa panganib ang buhay ng mga progresibong grupo.

“The government should focus on providing quality education and protecting our youth, not spreading fear and misinformation,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
