NASA kamay na ng korte ang usapin ng pagpapalaya kay US Marine Lance Corporal Joseph Scott Pemberton.

Ito ang binigyang-diin ni Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III kasabay ng paggiit na dapat tiyaking naayon sa batas ang anumang desisyon para sa maagang paglaya ni Pemberton na convicted sa pagpatay sa Filipino transwoman na si Jennifer Laude.

“As regards Pemberton, he was imprisoned in accordance with the law, and his release should also be under our laws,” saad ni Sotto sa text message sa Senate reporters.

“We are a government of laws, and not of emotion. They must apply to all with Lady Justice blindfolded, without regard to nationality. Let our courts decide,” dagdag nito.

Una na ring sinabi ni Sotto na maaring talakayin din ang isyu kay Pemberton sa imbestigasyon ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee sa mga isyung bumabalot sa Bureau of Correction partikular ang implementasyon ng GCTA.(DANG SAMSON-GARCIA)
