MISTULANG na-wow mali ang Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) sa resulta sa COVID-19 test kay ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Eric Yap matapos maglabas ng
statement ang nasabing ahensya na negatibo ang mambabatas sa nasabing virus.

“We wish to publicly apologize to Cong. Eric Go Yap of ACT-CIS Partylist for forwarding a report of his COVID-19 results that displayed a clerical oversight.
Rep. Yap remains negative of COVID-19,” ayon sa RITM.

Magugunita na noong Miyerkoles, Marso 25, ay humingi ng paumanhin si Yap matapos kumpirmahin umano sa kanya ng RITM na positibo ito sa COVID-19 sa test na isinagawa
noong Marso 15.

Nagdulot ng pangamba ang nasabing ulat dahil dumalo si Yap sa pulong sa Palasyo ng Malacañang noong Marso 21 at kasama ito sa special Session sa Kamara noong Marso
23, at inisponsor ang House Bill (HB) 6616 o “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act”.

Dahil dito, lahat ng mga mambabatas kasama ang kanilang mga staff na dumalo sa special session para ipasa ang nasabing panukala ay inabisuhang sumailalim sa
self-quarantine.

Maging ang mga nakasalamuha ni Yap sa Palasyo tulad ni Sen. Bong Go ay napilitang sumailalim sa self-quarantine.

Dalawang araw matapos ito, inamin ng RITM na nagkaroon ng error sa pag-encode at natuklasan lamang umano nito ito kagabi kaya agad silang nag-isyu ng paglilinaw.

“His results are by no means a false positive. This isolated incident was brought about by an encoding error which was discovered late last night by the Molecular Biology Laboratory (MBL) of the Department of Health-Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (DOH-RITM),” ayon sa statement ng RITM na inilabas sa House Media ngayong gabi.

“Again, we profusely and sincerely apologize to Hon. Eric Go Yap for the unnecessary discomfort this incident has caused. The individual responsible for the incident was enlisted as an augmentation staff from outside the regular workforce of the laboratory. Said employee is already being dealt with administratively,” ayon pa sa RITM. BERNARD TAGUINOD
