INIHAYAG ni Senador Grace Poe na opisyal nang ipinatigil ng Senado ang operasyon ng Private Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (MPVICs) sa buong bansa kabilang ang pag-iimbestiga dito alinsunod sa inaprubahang committee report ng Senate committee on public services.

Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Poe na inaprubahan ng Senado ang naturang report na nagrerekomenda na bawiin ang Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Department Order 2018-019 at iba pang katulad na ipinalabas na kautusan.

“While the fees have been lowered for now and testing seems to have been made optional, the implementation of this flawed program must be stopped definitively pending the resolution of issues hounding it,” ayon kay Poe.

Naunang isinumite ni Poe ang Committee Report No. 184 na tumutukoy sa ilang pagkakamali ng inspection standard, errors sa test results at kawalan ng transparency sa accreditation process.

Aniya, inaprubahan ng Senado ang rekomendasyon ng komite na payagan ang Kongreso at eksperto na tukuyin kung angkop na maisapribado ang Motor Vehicle Inspections Syste at mga opisyal na sangkot dito. (ESTONG REYES)
