Celebrating Valenzuela City’s Environmental Excellence at the Gawad Taga-Ilog Roadshow 2023

The much-anticipated Gawad Taga-Ilog (GTI) Roadshow took place at City Hall Atrium, August 3, 2023, organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) in collaboration with the Local Government of Valenzuela under the leadership of Mayor WES Gatchalian. The event aimed to garner greater attention and promote GTI, encouraging participation from other LGUs in the NCR.
The GTI Exhibit, the centerpiece of the event, showcased essential information and captivating visuals related to the DENR-NCR’s prestigious contest.

Valenzuela City’s dedication to improving esteros has earned well-deserved recognition over the years. In 2021, the city was crowned Grand Champion for Lingunan Creek in Barangay Lingunan. Following that, in 2022, it achieved an impressive 3rd Runner Up title for Polo River in Barangay Malinta. Now, in 2023, Valenzuela City celebrates another victory for Veinte Reales Creek in Barangay Veinte Reales.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Engr. Henry Pacis, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services DENR-NCR, Mr. Olga Arzadon, Deputy Director MEO-North, Ms. Sudi Valencia, Director DILG-Valenzuela, and Barangay Captains from the winning areas.

Valenzuela City’s remarkable efforts in preserving and enhancing its waterways inspire other communities to follow suit and contribute to the cause of environmental excellence.
