PUERTO GALERA, Mindoro – Arestado sa mga tauhan ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) noong Lunes ang isang Amerikano na wanted sa US simula noong 2018.
Ayon kay BI Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) Chief Rendel Ryan Sy, si Paul Scott Finch, 51-anyos, ay naaresto sa Sitio Paraway, Brgy. Dulangan sa Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro sa bisa ng warrant of deportation na inisyu nitong unang linggo ng buwan.
“Our counterparts from the US government recently shared information about his (Finch’s) crimes,” pahayag ni Sy. “We conducted a manhunt and discovered that he had been hiding in Mindoro,” dagdag pa niya.
Si Finch ay pakay ng dalawang arrest warrants na inisyu sa Walton County Superior Court sa Monroe, Georgia para sa kasong possession of firearm at ito ay iniutos na arestuhin dahil ang suspek ay “convicted felon and for failure to appear with underlying charge of tampering of evidence”.
“His passport has already been revoked by the US government, making him an undocumented alien as well,” ayon pa kay Sy.
Pinapurihan naman ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente ang FSU sa pagkakahuli sa nasabing pugante.
“Despite the pandemic, our officers take the risk and pursue these cases to ensure that these illegal aliens are arrested and deported,” pahayag ni Morente. “We remain firm in our goal to rid the country of these undesirables to ensure the safety of Filipinos,” dagdag niya.
Si Finch ay pansamantalang nakakulong sa BI’s holding facility sa Taguig habang nakabinbin ang implementasyon ng kanyang deportasyon.
Ang kanyang pangalan ay isinama sa Bureau’s blacklist na ipinagbabawal ang muli pang pagpasok sa Pilipinas sa sandaling mai-deport na sa kanilang bansa. (JOEL O. AMONGO)
