KAMARA, Lungsod Quezon — Pinagbunyi ng mga mambabatas sa Mababang Kapulungan para pasalamatan si Pangulong Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. sa paglagda ng batas na umurong sa petsang ng parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) mula Mayo 12 sa Oktubre 13 ng taong kasalukuyan.

Ayon kay Lanao del Sur District I representative Ziaur-Rahman ‘Zia’ Alonto Adiong, matitiyak sa desisyon ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. na i-postpone ang nasabing halalan na makapagtakda ng mga safeguard para sa BARMM elections habang nagbibigay din ng paghahanda para dito.

“By allowing the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the BARMM more time to prepare, the law strengthened the electoral integrity and paved the way for a government that truly represents the will of the Bangsamoro people,” punto ni Adiong.

Nilinaw ng mambabatas mula sa Lanao del Sur na ang mahalagang aspeto ng batas na nagpapaliban sa unang BARMM parliamentary elections ay ang kapangyarihan ng Pangulo na makapagtalaga ng mga miyembro ng Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA).

“The exclusion of Sulu from the Bangsamoro region created a vacancy in the BTA that must be addressed immediately to maintain inclusivity and balance in the interim government,” anito.

Ayon naman kay Bukidnon District II congressman Jonathan Keith Flores, ang postponement ng BARMM parliamentary elections ay makajatulong sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) at mga law enforcement agencies na maipamahagi ng maayos ang kani-kanilang mga tauhan at resources para matiyak ang kredibilidad ng halalan.
