INIHAYAG ni Sen. Cynthia Villar ang paglulunsad ng updated version ng directory na gagabay sa farm enthusiasts, trainees at turista tungkol sa farm destinations at learning sites sa bansa.

Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Villar na naglalaman ang 466-paged 5th edition na “Directory of Farm Schools, Tourist Farms and Learning Sites in the Philippines” ng mga larawan at contact details ng mga lugar na ito mula sa 17 rehiyon sa bansa na nasa full color.

“This book is part of my efforts to promote farm tourism and the farm schools in our country. I continue to urge farmers to follow the example of others who have since become more profitable. They have tripled their income sources—from their crops or harvests, from tourists who visit their farms and from trainees who enroll in training programs,” ayon kay Villar.

Si Villar ang pangunahing may akda ng Republic Act 10816 o ang Farm Tourism Development Act of 2016 na naging daan para madagdagan ang bilang ng mga magsasaka, mga may-ari ng bukid at farming communities na nasisiyahan sa mga benepisyo nang gawin nilang tourist destinations ang kanilang mga bukid.

Binanggit din ng chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture and Food ang dumaraming lugar para sa agriculture- related training. Nakatutulong ito na matanggal ang mga hadlang upang maging ‘competitive at profitable’ ang ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda.

Kabilang sa mga sagabal ang kakulangan sa teknolohiya, mechanization at financial literacy at kawalan ng paraan para magkaroon ng murang pautang.

Mula sa listahan ng may 386 sa first edition, mayroon nang mahigit sa 2,500 bukid ang nasa directory. Kabilang dito ang apat na farm schools na itinatag ng Villar SIPAG sa Las Pinas-Bacoor; San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan; San Miguel, Iloilo at Davao City.

Nagbukas ang unang Villar SIPAG Farm School noong September 2015. Makikita ito sa 8 ektaryang lote sa boundary ng Las Piñas City at Bacoor City, Cavite at Molino Dam. Ito ay para sa mga trainees mula NCR, Southern Luzon at Bicol. Meron itong training tent facility, 2 dormitoryo, isang staff house at farm house. Itinatampok dito ang vermi- composting facility, green house, solar lamp post, ram pump, two windmills, livestock, cacao school, bamboo museum, water impounding facility na may tilapia, rice field, herbal medicine garden at coconut house.

Nagbukas ang farm sa San Jose del Monte City nong July 2016. Gaya ng Bacoor Farm, dito ginagawa ang training program sa Agri-Crops production sa pakikipag-partner sa East West Seeds Foundation.

Bukas ang programa sa lahat na nagnanais matuto ng is agriculture. Meron din itong mga libreng training program para sa mga magsasaka sa Northern at Central Luzon at sa Cordillera.

Noong January 20, 2020, pinasinayaan ni Villar ang Villar SIPAG Farm School sa San Miguel, Iloilo para magsilbi sa Visayas Region. Nagbibigay ang training program ng two-week Training of Trainors on Rice Mechanization and Inbred Rice Seeds Production.

Itinatag din ang Villar SIPAG Farm School Davao City ngayong taon para magbigay ng pagsasanay sa mga magsasaka at iba pa na nais ng agriculture-related training sa Mindanao.

Ang directory ay proyekto ng Villar SIPAG sa pakikipag-partner sa Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Training Institute, Philippine Rice Research Institute, Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization, Department of Agrarian Reform, TESDA, at Department of Tourism.
