KINALAMPAG ni Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor ang Department of Health (DOH) at Department of Science and Technology (DOST) na bilisan ang clinical trial na iniutos sa kanila ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte para sa Ivermectin bilang gamot sa COVID-19.
“The trials should be done as expeditiously as possible. Time is of the essence, because we could save lives with the use of this inexpensive wonder drug,” pahayag ni Defensor.
Ayon sa mambabatas, hindi dapat maghintay hanggang sa susunod na taon ang DOH at DOST bago matapos at maglabas ng resulta ng kanilang isinasagawang clinical trial sa nasabing gamot.
“If the administration achieves its goal of attaining herd immunity in the National Capital Region Plus area this year by vaccinating at least 58 million Filipinos, the DOH and DOST would just have wasted precious funds with their studies on the use of Ivermectin on COVID-19 patients,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.
Naniniwala ang mambabatas na malaki ang maitutulong ng Ivermectin para mailigtas ang buhay ng mga tao at hindi na pagagastusin ang mga ito sa napakamahal na gamot tulad ng Remdesivir.
Nagkakahalaga aniya ng P11,000 hanggang P48,000 ang bawat vial ng Remdesivir sa mga pribadong pagamutan samantalang ang Ivermectin ay P35 lamang ang bawat tableta. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
