MISTULANG nadismaya ang mga kongresista matapos makarating sa kanilang kaalaman na mismong mga administration senator ang ‘maglalaglag’ sa economic Charter change ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Sa press conference kahapon, hindi naitago ng ilang kongresista ang kanilang pagkadismaya nang aminin ni Senator Cynthia Villar na pitong senador, kabilang ang apat na kaalyado ng administrasyon, ang boboto kontra sa Cha-cha.

“Four of which kamo ay mga allies of the President, if they were really allies, they would actually listen to the request of the President, to amend the economic provision of the constitution,” ani Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman.

Upang maipasa ang Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) No.6 o eco Cha-cha sa Senado, kailangan ang ¾ votes o katumbas ng 18 botong pabor subalit otomatikong basurahan ang punta nito kung pito ang boboto kontra rito.

Ayon naman kay Deputy Speaker David Suarez, nakasalalay na sa balikat ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri ang tagumpay ng eco Cha-cha sa pagmamagitan na pagkumbinsi sa 18 senador na suportahan ito at sumunod kay Marcos.

“I think it is now incumbent on the Senate President to show his leadership to muster enough votes so that we can get the RBH 6 approved in the Senate,” ani Suarez.

Samantala, sa ikaapat na araw ng pagdinig ng House committee of the whole sa RBH No.7 sa Kamara, pawang kinontra ng educators na buksan ang sektor ng edukasyon sa mga dayuhang negosyante.

“Opening up Philippine schools to 100% foreign ownership does not and will not resolve the current education crisis which in our case is caused by decades of insufficient public funding for education,” ayon sa Teachers, Education Workers, and Academics Against Charter Change (TEACH).

Nagpahayag naman ng pagkadismaya si Deputy Majority Leader Janette Garin habang karamihan sa mga opisyales ng sektor ng edukasyon ay nag-aaral sa ibang bansa tulad ng Harvard ay tutol ang mga ito sa Cha-cha at maging sa pagkakaroon ng foreign teachers sa bansa.
