INAPRUBAHAN ng Department of Budget Management and Development (DBM) ang pagpapalabas ng P87.632 million sa National Tobacco Administration (NTA) alinsunod sa ginagawang pagsusulong ng administrasyon na palakasin ang suporta para sa tobacco industry.

Sa katunayan, inaprubahan ni Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman ang pagpapalabas ng Notice of Cash Allocation (NCA) para sa pondo para sa second quarter requirement ng NTA noong Mayo 9.

Ang NTA ay nag-iisang government body na nangangasiwa at nag-aayos ng paglago at development ng industriya, at tumitingin sa kapakanan ng ‘marginalized farmers.’

“We understand that agriculture is part of the backbone of our economy. For this reason, our government ensures that every segment of our agricultural landscape receives the support and resources it needs to thrive,” ayon sa Kalihim.

Para sa taong 2024, ang NTA ay may kabuuang P550.504 million appropriation, na ayon sa DBM, ay ipinalabas na sa pamamagitan ng Special Allotment Release Order (SARO).

“Of this amount, P175.276 million has already been issued a corresponding Notice of Cash Allocation to fulfill the requirements for the first semester, ” ayon sa departamento.

Nauna rito, nanawagan si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa Bureau of Customs at iba pang concerned agencies na paigtingin ang paglansag laban sa tobacco smuggling, labis na kanyang nakasasakit sa local industry. (CHRISTIAN DALE)
