NANGANGAMBA ang isang mambabatas na posibleng uminit pa ang tensyon sa South China Sea partikular na sa West Philippine Sea (WPS) dahil sa militarisasyon ng Estados Unidos sa Batanes.

Ayon kay ACT Party-list Rep. France Castro, nagsisimula na ang United States Army Engineers sa pagpapatayo ng mga military infrastructure tulad ng humanitarian logistic warehouse sa nasabing isla.

Bahagi umano ito ng Balikatan military exercises sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Amerika na labis na ikinaalarma aniya ng mga taga-Batanes.

“The military transformation of such an idyllic island is highly deplorable and would further escalate the growing tensions in the South China Sea. It would also make Batanes a target of attacks as it would be a forward base of the US if China moves against Taiwan,” ani Castro.

Ang Batanes ay hindi kalayuan sa Taiwan na target mabawi ng China sa anomang paraan subalit napipigilan ito ng Amerika.

Kapag nagkaroon aniya ng giyera sa Taiwan ay madadamay ang Pilipinas dahil sa puwersa ng Amerika sa Batanes bunsod ng dalawang Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) sa Cagayan.

“If this happens or if China escalates its aggression in the West Philippine Sea then we would be right smack in the middle of an inter-imperialist war, making the Philippines the theater of war in Southeast Asia,” paliwanag pa ng mambabatas.
