PUMANAW na ang tinaguriang political kingpin ng Bicol na si dating Camarines Sur congressman at governor Luis Villafuerte Sr. sa edad na 86-anyos.

Ito ang kinumpirma ng anak ni Villafuerte na si Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte noong Miyerkoles ng gabi.

“It is with great pain and sadness that I announce the demise of a loved and dear one, My father, Luis R. Villafuerte Sr., one of the most illustrious political leaders of our country,” ayon sa batang Villafuerte.

Sinabi ng mambabatas na pumanaw ang kanyang ama dakong alas-12:35 ng umaga noong Miyerkoles, Setyembre 8, 2021 sa St. Luke’s Medical Center-BGC, Taguig subalit hindi sinabi ang dahilan ng pagpanaw ng dating kongresista.

“He was considered by many as the Political Kingpin of the Bicol Region. Highly respected by many for his intellectual prowess, creative thinking and out of the box ideas on anything. He was not only my mentor and idol but also to many,” ayon pa sa batang Villafuerte.

Naging governor si Villafuerte ng Camarines Sur sa loob ng 15 taon habang naging congressman mula 2004 hanggang 2013.

“He continues to be our inspiration as he always motivates us to be the best at whatever we do. Even if you thought you have achieved the best, he would express that there is room for improvement,” ayon pa sa mambabatas. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
