NANINIWALA si Anakalusugan Party-list Rep. Mike Defensor na masyadong mahal ang P690 per food packs na binili ng Quezon City government.

Kasabay nito, sinabi ng mambabatas na nakahanda siyang magbitiw sa pulitika kung mapatutunayang walang overpricing sa ipinamudmod na food packs sa mga residente ng naturang lungsod.

“I will retire permanently from politics if Mayor Joy Belmonte can prove that there was no overprice. I will even support her reelection bid in the May 2022 elections,” pahayag ni Defensor.

Kinuwestyon din ng mambabatas kung bakit hindi lantarang tinugon ni Belmonte ang isyu ukol sa alegasyon ng overpricing at sa halip ay niresbakan nito si Defensor ng pamumulitika.

Paglilinaw pa ng mambabatas, makabubuting ilantad ng kampo ni Belmonte kung magkano ang halaga ng ipinamudmod na food packs at kung paano nakuha ng supplier ang pahintulot na dito bilhin ang mga kailangang pagkain.

“How much did they purchased the goods included in the food packages, and how much were the prevailing prices of these items? What was the process of award to the suppliers? Why did Mayor Belmonte split the procurements in violation of auditing rules? These are some of the questions she is evading to answer,” ayon sa mambabatas.

Base sa mga nakalap na datos at dokumento ni Defensor, lumagda si Belmonte sa dalawang purchase orders (POs) para sa pagbili ng kabuuang 600,000 food packs na para sa mahihirap na residente ng lungsod sa panahon ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Subalit kung susumahin aniya ang halaga ng bawat isang food pack batay na rin sa pagka-canvass ng kaniyang staff, ang isa ay nagkakahalaga lamang ng P636 na sa kabuuan ay nasa P308 milyon lamang.

Ang pinakamahal, ayon kay Defensor sa loob ng isang bag ay ang limang kilong bigas na ang halaga ay nasa P200, meat products, spaghetti noodles at sauce, cheese at gatas.

Kabilang sa palaisipan kay Defensor ay kung bakit dinalawang batch pa ang pagbili ng food packs na aniya’y ipinagbabawal ng Commission on Audit bukod pa aniya na ang halagang P1,149.98 per food pack ay sobrang mahal.

“The Commission on Audit prohibits this kind of procurement because it does not obtain the best price for the government. The COA auditor assigned in Quezon City should not have allowed the splitting. Who were these suppliers and who were behind them? Was it just a coincidence that they offered the same price? Or was the price dictated to them?” ayon pa kay Defensor. (CESAR BARQUILLA)
