SA pagpapatuloy ng kampanya ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) laban sa mga ganid na negosyante, silat sa operasyon kontra smuggling ang nasa P120-milyong halaga ng produktong agrikultura sa Lungsod ng Navotas.

Bitbit ang Letter of Autho­rity na pirmado ni Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, pinasok ng pinagsanib na operatiba mula sa Customs Intelligence, and Investigation Service – Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP), Department of Agriculture-Inspectorate and Enforcement Office (DA-IE), National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) at Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang pitong bodegang pinaniniwalaang imbakan ng mga smuggled agri-product.

Sa isinagawang inspek­s­yon kaharap ang mga kinatawan ng mga may-ari ng bodegang sinalakay, tumambad ang santambak na frozen products mula sa mga bansang China, Brazil. Australia, Estados Unidos at Russia.

Kumpiskado ang sanda­makmak na pork legs, chicken drumsticks, pork spareribs, squid rings, crayfish, pork ears, pork hinges, abalone, brawley beef, pork aorta, chicken feet, pork riblets, golden pampano, pangasius filet, boneless pork ham, fish tofu at pork ears.

“This is outstanding work by our law enforcement officers and our bureau personnel. I understand how much effort and commitment it takes to inspect all of these warehouses in just one day. It also goes to show how important proper coordination is among government agencies because these operations won’t be possible without it,” saad sa pahayag ni Rubio ilang saglit matapos ang operasyon kontra smuggling.

Sa bukod na pahayag, patunay ani Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Group Juvymax Uy ang matagumpay na operasyon kontra smuggling ang kahandaan ng kawanihan tumugon sa hamon ng Palasyo – ang pagtugis sa mga mapagsamantala at mandarayang negosyanteng aniya’y sagwil sa isinusulong na pagbangon sa ekonomiya ng bansa.

“Our officers have once more shown their diligence to target, detect, and intercept potential threats to our people’s economic activities. This is just one of the ways the bureau protects the public – by keeping these products away from consumers and thus safeguarding the livelihoods of those who go through the proper legal process of bringing in imported goods,” ayon kay Uy.

Saksi sa isinagawang operasyon sa Navotas sina Assistant Secretary James Layug ng Department of Agriculture, Navotas City Lone District Representative Toby Tiangco at mga kinatawan mula Navotas City Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO).
Bago pa man tuluyang ikinandado ang pasilidad, nagsagawa ng imbentaryo ang nakatalagang Customs examiner sa presensya ng CIIS at Enforcement and Security Service (ESS).
