HINILING kahapon ng party-list group na ACT Teachers na pakawalan ang inarestong guro dahil nagpapakita lamang umano ito ng kanyang pagkadismaya sa gobyerno.

Katwiran ng party-list group, pagpapakita ng double standard ang pag-aresto ng mga pulis sa gurong nag-post sa social media na bibigyan niya ng P50 milyon ang makapapatay kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Ang guro ay si Ronnel Mas, 25-anyos.

Ayon kay ACT Teachers party-list Rep France Castro, mismo ngang si Pangulong Duterte ay nag-uutos sa militar ng shoot to kill laban sa mga aktibista at kritiko nito.

“We demand for the immediate release of teacher Ronnel Mas. The arrest of teacher Ronnel reeks of double standard and refuses to follow due process. It is a hypocrisy of law enforcement when ordinary people are arrested, harassed and threatened for posting on social media while the President continues his tirades against his critics,” pahayag ni Castro.

Binatikos din ni Castro ang paraan ng interogasyon na ginawa ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) kay Mas na na- upload pa sa social media.

“They should not coerce, much less publicize an admission especially if the admission was done without a lawyer. Did the arresting officers even warn teacher Ronnel of his rights to remain silent and right to an attorney when they arrested him? They clearly violated teacher Ronnel’s custodial rights,” giit ni Castro.

Sinabi pa ng mambabatas na wala namang seryosong banta kay Pangulong Duterte sa naging post ni Mas dahil wala naman itong P50M gaya ng nakasaad sa kanyang post.

Si Mas umano ay ikatlong guro na inaresto habang nasa quarantine period dahil lamang sa paglalabas ng kanilang hinaing sa gobyerno sa paghawak nito sa COVID pandemic.

“The government is consistently weaponizing the law against those who point out the shortcomings of the government,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

Si Mas ay una nang humingi ng paumanhin sa kanyang post noong May 5 na pagpapakita lamang umano ng pagkadismaya nito sa pagpapasara ng ABS-CBN kaya nagawa niyang maglabas ng hinaing laban kay Pangulong Duterte.

Nahaharap ito ngayon sa kasong Inciting to Sedition kaugnay sa Cyber Crime Prevention Act at paglabag sa Republic Act 6713 o Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

HUWAG MAGBANTA

Kaugnay nito, hinikayat ng Presidential Security Group (PSG) ang publiko na huwag gamitin ang social media at gumawa ng online threats laban kanino man kabilang na kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte dahil pananagutan ng mga ito ang kanilang aksyon.

“I would just like to convey to the people not to be involved in any way of threatening the President or anybody especially with the use of social media,” ayon kay PSG commander Colonel Jesus Durante III.

“Anybody could be held liable if he threatens to harm or kill a person, what more if the one that is threatened is the president of the republic,” aniya pa rin.

Sinabi ni Durante na makikipag-ugnayan ang PSG sa mga law enforcement agency para sa pagmo-monitor at paghuli sa mga responsable sa nasabing aksyon.

Nagpalabas ang PSG chief ng kalatas matapos maghain ang National Bureau of Investigation ng inciting to sedition complaint laban kay Ronnel Mas.

May isa namang construction worker ang inaresto sa Malay, Aklan dahil sa pag-alok na P100 million sa sinoman na makapapatay sa Pangulo.
