AALAMIN ng Senado kung sino ang taong pinoprotektahan ni dating Procurement Service Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) Undersecretary Lloyd Christopher Lao at ng Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation na sangkot sa anomalya sa pagbili ng overpriced na COVID-19 medical supplies.

Ayon kay Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, malalaman din nila ang personalidad na itinatago ni Lao na mag-uugnay sa korapsyon sa pagbili ng medical supplies.

“The challenge now is to be able to identify that backer, because that backer is the missing link that will connect the dots in this controversy. We see a pattern of corruption that was perpetrated by Lao and his cohorts. It cannot be done by Lao alone. So he has something to cover up and that’s what we should find out who is,” ayon sa senador.

Giit pa nito na mahalaga na mabunyag ang katotohanan sa nasabing usapin upang makatulong sa paglaban sa COVID-19 pandemic.

“Who is Lao’s backer? Who is Pharmally’s backer? Don’t hide it because the truth will also come out,” ani Drilon.

Paliwanag pa nito na noong 2020, ibinulgar niya ang pagbili ng PS-DBM ng 2,000 units ng COVID-19 test kits mula sa Pharmally sa halagang P344,000 o kabuuang P688 milyon gayung dapat ay nabili lamang ito ng P240,000 per kit kung kaya’t overpriced ito ng P208 milyon.

Kuwestiyonable aniya ang Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation na Setyembre 2019 nang maging incorporation sa Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) na may paid-capital lamang ng P625,000.

Base sa inilabas na financial statement ng Pharmally na isinumite sa SEC, ang income nito ay umabot sa P284.9 milyon noong 2020 mula sa zero na idineklara noong 2019 kung saan umakyat din ang assets sa P284.9 milyon noong 2020 mula P599,000 noong 2019. (NOEL ABUEL)
