95% ILLEGAL FOREIGN WORKERS, MGA CHINESE

TUTUTUKAN sa Senado ang pagdami ng mga dayuhang manggagawa sa bansa bunsod ng nakaaalarmang report sa paglobo ng kanilang bilang.

Ayon kay Senador Joel Villanueva, ipagpapatuloy nito ang committee hearing ng Senate Committee on Labor, Employment, and Human Resource Development sa nasabing usapin base na rin sa impormasyon mula sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) na 95 porsiyento na naaresto noong nakaraang taon ay pawang mga Chinese nationals.

Idinagdag pa ni Villanueva na sa naarestong 167 foreign nationals at nakasuhan sa korte ay 159 sa mga Chinese illegal workers.

“The information we received from the NBI offers another perspective that we need to consider in this pressing problem of illegal foreign workers using loopholes in our system to take away jobs that Filipinos can do,” sabi pa ni Villanueva.

Maliban sa mga Chinese nationals kasama rin sa mga nadakip ay anim na Taiwanese, at isang Korean at Liberian.

“With this new information, we can see how the issues on illegal foreign workers are evolving,” he added. “If some government officials are not concerned by this development, I think they do not fully appreciate the constitutional provision on the preferential treatment for Filipino workers,” paliwanag pa nito.
