PINAIMBESTIGAHAN ni House minority leader Danilo Suarez sa kanyang mga kasamahan sa Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang delayed delivery ng mga cargo sa  Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) at Manila South Harbor na itinuturing nitong isang ‘economic sabotage’.

Sa House Resolution 2399 na inakda ni Suarez, nababahala ito sa mga report na nadedelay ang pagdeliver ng mga cargo dahil sa iba-ibang kadahilanan tulad ng port congestion.

“It has come to the attention of this representation that there has been a substantial delay in the delivery of cargoes from the MICT and Manila South Harbor since the month of December 2018,” ani Suarez.

Maliban dito, nagkakaroon din umano ng delay sa pagdeliver ng mga cargos dahil sa plano ng Land Transportation and Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na iphase-outa ang mga cargo trucks na 15 taon pataas ang edad.

“The flow of cargoes in ports have been reportedly plagued by many problems in the past months. Deliberate actions that cause the delayed delivery of goods may be considered economic sabotage,”ayon sa mambabatas sa kanyang resolusyon.

Sinabi ng kongresista na malaki ang epekto sa mga consumers ang mga cargo na dinedelay ang pagpapalabas dahil maabusan umano ng supply ng pagkain na ang kasunod ang mataas na presyo.

“Failure to address the delay in the delivery of goods may produce artificial shortages and may result to price hike of involved goods and commodities,” ayon pa sa mambabatas kaya hindi dapat balewalain ang nangyayaring ito sa Bureau of Customs (BOC).
